How has Mayweather displayed the MILITAR MINDSET?

Mayweather has demonstrated throughout both his life and career how strong his MINDSET really is. He was born into a boxing family.

His father and uncles were all involved in boxing. His father was a professional boxer who had even fought Sugar Ray Leonard, but his father’s career would be cut short after he was shot in the leg.

His uncle Roger Mayweather was a two-time world champion too. All Mayweather knew was boxing. This self-belief that he shows in his fights and from the way he talks, are all a result of the the work he has put in.

The lessons he learnt from his family were vital for him to get to where he is today.

Mayweather has admitted his father was hard on him when it came to boxing. He wanted everything to be perfect when it came to his technique and boxing abilities.

This demand for perfection would drive Floyd to constantly be in the gym practising and improving himself.

Floyd has said: ‘I believe in my skills, I believe in my talent. If no one believes in Floyd Mayweather, I believe in me.’ This belief comes from his positive and strong mindset.

Deep down Floyd knows that he is putting the work in. Self- belief is only present when you know you have done everything in your power to achieve it, which is what Floyd did.

All the years he spent training as a child paid off when he won his first world title in 1998 against Genaro Hernandez in the super featherweight division.

Things would only go upwards for Floyd from hear as he progressed up the weights winning numerous world titles in five different weight classes!

Floyd has stated: ‘I am the best. There is nobody better than me.’ This again reiterates Mayweather’s confidence in himself. It is hard for people to say he is false in saying this as no one has ever beat him!

Some people tend to dislike Mayweather for flaunting his money and possessions on his social media, but ultimately he has worked for everything he has got.

Mayweather’s life wasn’t always as glorious as it seems now. He has reflected on his childhood in past interviews where he explains at one time he would be living in one room with seven people residing in this small place.

His mother had her own personal battles too, fighting drug addiction. It was this early struggle that Mayweather had which motivated him to earn a better livelihood. He wanted a better life for both himself and his family.

Mayweather was able to bring boxing to a new level with the number of fans and attraction that he brought to the sport.

He brought in huge numbers, making him a PPV star and the most paid boxer of all time. Breaking these barriers has inspired the younger generation to see the rewards that their dreams as boxers can bring them if they dedicate themselves to the craft.

Many now want to be the ‘next Floyd Mayweather’ which generally means the next boxing superstar.

Mayweather has stated:‘You have good days, you have bad days. But the main thing is to grow mentally.’ Reinforcing that we all have bad days and good days. When we encounter the bad days, we must overcome them and learn from them.

Mayweather is always up for a challenge, as it drives and motivates him. His end goal is to be considered ‘the best ever’, not just in boxing terms but as an athlete.

To achieve such a great status, he would need to provide evidence to back up his claims. He was able to do this by defeating huge names in multiple weight divisions such as Manny Pacquaio and Canelo Alvarez. Solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest athletes of all time.

He has even tested the waters and done things people would deem as out of the ordinary. Crossing over into the professional wrestling world, fighting the Big Show in 2008 at WrestleMania 24!

It took Mayweather TIME to get to where he is

Over the years Mayweather has been able to gauge a good understanding of the importance of TIME. Mayweather did not become an overnight success. Everything took him a huge deal of patience and time.

His boxing journey started when he was just 10 years old with his first amateur bout.

He wouldn’t get his first professional world title till he was 21 years old, which is incredible to be able to achieve the greatest prize in boxing at such a young age.

That was 11 years of hard work and dedication Mayweather spent on boxing to get to just his first world title. Mayweather would only go from strength to strength after this.

Moving up the weights and conquering each division and its former champions. Mayweather would only start to become the PPV superstar we know him as today, after defeating De La Hoya in 2007.

Again, this was another 19 years of work Mayweather had to put in to start to get the recognition he wanted, allowing him to become the draw he was.

Mayweather tells us ‘Never complain. Just work.’ Here he teaches us that if things aren’t going your way, be patient and keep working.

He knew things would work out for him in the end if he stayed patient and continued to put the work in. Sometimes there will be hurdles you must overcome but buy staying patient and giving things time you will conquer them!

Mayweather has been ACTIVE his whole life!

Mayweather has been ACTIVE his whole life! He always emphasises his belief that no one works harder than him. Ever since he was just a child, he strived for perfection in his craft.

To do this he had to be in the gym all the time, constantly working on improving himself. When Mayweather turned pro, he got straight to work.

Having 10 fights in his second year as a professional! He needed to adjust to the pro game, so he had to have as many fights as possible to improve his skills as a professional.

In his young days, he was known as ‘pretty boy’ Floyd as he was a lot more aggressive and aiming to knockout his opponents.

As he grew into the sport and earned a bigger name, he would fight less frequently as the years went on. This didn’t mean he was not still active though! He is always constantly training to this day!

Floyd likes staying busy and active as it helps him stay in a good mental and physical state too. Outside of boxing Mayweather has many different business ventures which he is passionate about and help to keep him active in the business world too.

He is also a promoter outside of the ring and likes to help the next generation in their journeys to becoming professional boxers.

Floyd told us ‘To be the best you have to work overtime.’ Reinforcing how important staying active is. You have to put in that extra work that people aren’t willing to do, to achieve great things.

You must always work that extra bit harder and stay active on your pursuit to your dreams!

Mayweather was RELENLTESS in his journey to greatness

Mayweather has displayed just how RELENTLESS he is throughout his life. Coming from a tough childhood when he stayed with his mother, he sacrificed it all for boxing. He chose to dedicate his life to the sport.

Mayweather has said he found it tough when he ultimately made the decision to leave his mum and stay with his father so that he could focus on boxing.

The sacrifice he made allowed him to create a better life for both him and his family in the end. He was driven to achieving his dreams and wanted to be regarded as ‘the best ever’. He knew to do this he had to prove it in the ring and show why he is the best.

Mayweather was able to do this every time he stepped foot inside the ring. He stated: ‘Everything people say I couldn’t do, I’ve done.’ This shows the drive Floyd had to prove everyone wrong.

Deep down he knew what he was capable of and though no one believed in him, he believed in himself.

He knew the work he was putting into his craft would enable him to reach the heights he did in his professional career. He was relentless in his approach to achieving his ultimate dreams, leaving no stone unturned.

You must stay relentless when chasing your dreams, continue working no matter what people say. You will reach the end goal one day!
