The Militar Dragon Collection: A Deeper Look

The Militar Dragon Collection is our sixth collection.

The Dragon Collection is based on the traditional Chinese interpretations of the dragon. This includes what the dragon represents, what it means within the culture and what positive perspectives we can take from it ourselves.

Chinese dragons are known to represent strength, harmony and prosperity, which are all things we strive for.

There is a deeper meaning behind the Militar Dragon Collection, as with all collections we create. The aim is always to inspire and motivate you towards your own goals when we create these collections, so let’s take a deeper look into the Dragon Collection!

The Thought Process Behind the Militar Dragon Collection

The Dragon Collection is our first art-based collection so far. All the other collections we have created are more design based, abstract concepts, but with the Dragon Collection we heavily focused on the artwork and capturing the story we wanted to tell with the pieces.

China is one of the ancestors of traditional martial arts, so we wanted to go back to the roots of martial arts and see the lifelong lessons we can extract from it. First, we looked at the Chinese year, and currently we are in the year of the Dragon. The year of the dragon is known to represent strength, creativity and leadership.

Dragons are strong, energetic and dynamic creatures, applying these qualities means we can be ambitious and energetic towards anything we do.

Dragons are known for their creativity and innovation, so the year of the dragon is a great time to try new ventures and creative endeavours.

Leadership is a key trait associated with the year of the dragon, be charismatic and inspire the people around you to be better.

The dragon represents everything that we strive for, it is a symbol of positivity and strength.

2 Dragons Form The Design

The design features two interlinked dragons who are wrapped around the entire garment and breathing fire into the logo. We chose to use two dragons as in Chinese culture, it strengthens the meaning of the dragon when there are two of them.

Two dragons also represent harmony and balance, similar to the concept of the Yin and the Yang where these forces don’t oppose each other, rather they complement one another to create harmony and balance. This is also why we included the Yin and Yang symbols on the back of the T-shirt.

In this  design I wanted to show how the 2 dragons complemented each other and worked together to join at the front of the t-shirt, where they are both breathing fire into the logo.

Not only is the dragon a nice visual to base the design off, but everything the dragon represents in Chinese culture can also be found in the MILITAR values.

What Does The Dragon Represent and Mean?

The year of the dragon is considered to be a year of good luck and prosperity, which you can embed into your own life if you’re having a tough time and battling your own inner problems.

The dragon represents positivity and having a positive outlook on life. Be strong, battle the challenges life throws at you, keep going forward and chase your goals and dreams.

This was the key thing I liked about the dragon, that it was viewed as a symbol of positivity and success. In life it is very easy to have a negative view on the things that happen to us, but by taking a positive approach and looking at all the good that comes with it, can make the world of difference.

Our own ‘MILITAR MINDSET’ works well with the qualities of the dragon. Dragons are leaders, they aim to inspire and influence people. The year of the dragon is a time to be creative and innovative, be limitless and push yourself further than you ever imagined.

The use of 2 dragons symbolises balance and harmony, bringing you to your own inner peace. Dragons are strong, dynamic creatures, they are relentless (they breath fire!) and do whatever they can to achieve the goals they have set.

With community-based goals, the year of the dragon is where charismatic leaders step up and inspire and influence the people around them.

If everyone within the community adopts the qualities of the dragon, being positive and actively working in a creative and innovative way, then the community as a whole will perform much better in whatever they strive to do.

Our Promo Video For The Dragon Collection

In the promo video we shot for the Dragon Collection, we really wanted to channel and make the dragons qualities known. As this was our first art based design, there was more emphasis put on showing the actual design itself, it took a long time for us to create this design, with some back and forth, so we really wanted to show it off!

With the design based not on one, but 2 dragons, we wanted to showcase that element of harmony and peace, as well as the ferocity of the dragon to indicate the need for you to just go for it. Go for your goals and dreams and give it your all.

When we take a deeper look at the back of the design on the t-shirt, we can see the 2 dragons are wrapped around the Militar icon.

This was a nice design touch, but it also showcases the Militar icon and how it is a symbol of strength, it withholds the tight grasp of not just one, but 2 dragons! It doesn’t break or fold and remains solid and strong.

In life there will be times you want to give up, but they are the times when it’s most important to stay strong and keep going!

The Final Key Details of the Dragon Collection 

The 2 dragons take up the majority of the back of the t-shirt and then they wrap around to the front where their heads appear at the top.

The dragons breathing out the Militar logo was purposely done, it was the original idea I first had when conceptualising the idea. The 2 dragons join forces together to form the Militar logo.

This is because the dragon represents what Militar does, having a positive outlook on life, inspiring the people around you, being creative and innovative and chasing your goals.

All these qualities the dragon represents are the same as what we at Militar believe in. We all know that dragons are known to breath out fire, but I wanted to make it, so the dragon breathed out something more meaningful. The dragons breath out the Militar logo because we share the same qualities.

The name ‘Dragon Collection’ was the only name for this collection! The whole design is based off 2 dragons. The story behind the collection is what the dragons represent and teach us.

This collection is all about adopting these qualities into your own life, have a positive outlook on everything that happens, be creative and innovative and last but not least, be strong and relentless in what you want to do with your life.

A Look at the Militar Dragon Collection

We will now take a quick look at some of the items that form the Militar Dragon Collection.

The goal is to further expand the Dragon Collection with more items and colourways down the line but check out what we have so far in stock!

Militar Dragon T- Shirt

The Militar Dragon T- Shirt is made using both comfortable and flexible materials (100% polyester), perfect for you to train in.

So far, we have just the one colourway, but plan to release more colours down the line!

The base colour of the t-shirt is black, but the dragons are both silver. We used silver purposely because it is known to represent purity and strength.

The colour silver also links to the moon, which can represent peace. The Militar icon is in gold, this is so you can clearly see the icon on the back of the t-shirt, if the icon was also silver, it would be hard to see with the dragons, so could easily be overlooked.

The colour gold contrasts well with silver, they complement each other well, linking back to the Ying and Yang concept.

The Militar logo on the front is also in silver, the same colour as the dragons, to emphasise that we share the same qualities that the dragon represents.

This t-shirt is perfect for combat sports training, as worn by our athletes and also perfect for everyday gym use.

Militar Dragon High Split Shorts

The Militar Dragon High Split Shorts are made using lightweight polyester materials. This makes the shorts perfect to train in but also to fight in, they are so light, you barely feel them when you’re wearing them!

The shorts are high split shorts, meaning they have a high slit, which goes up to about ¾ of the shorts length. These are our number one bestsellers to date! The high slits allow for maximum flexibility and movement.

Design wise, as the shorts have a much smaller area, we instead wrapped the dragons around the back of the shorts and the 2 dragons jointed together on the left leg, where they breathed out the Militar logo.
